Choose the gravel board size to suit your post spacing, fencing system and the height you want at the bottom of the fence. The important point with length is that the board should finish securely on a post rather than between posts.

Timber gravel board sizes

Our treated timber gravel boards are available in 100 × 25mm (approx. 4 × 1in), 150 × 25mm (approx. 6 × 1in) and 200 × 25mm (approx. 8 × 1in) sections, with lengths from 1.8m to 4.8m depending on the board size.

  • 1.8m: approximately 6ft.
  • 2.4m: approximately 8ft.
  • 3.6m: approximately 12ft.
  • 4.8m: approximately 16ft.

With posts at 1.8m centres, a 1.8m board covers one bay. A 3.6m board can cover two 1.8m bays and finish in the centre of the next post.

The board height is mainly a choice based on the fence layout and how much board you want below the main fencing.

Concrete gravel board size

Our concrete gravel board is 1830 × 300mm, approximately 6ft × 12in, and is designed for compatible slotted concrete posts.

We do not currently stock a 150mm / 6in concrete gravel board, so do not use the 150mm timber size as a concrete-board specification.

Composite gravel board sizes

DuraPost PRIMA composite gravel boards are available in approximately 1.83m and 2.4m lengths. Choose the length to match the intended bay width and compatible post system.
