25 × 50mm treated timber batten is the general-purpose 2x1 option
Our Green Treated Timber Batten is a 25 × 50mm sawn batten for general external battening, sheds, garages and outdoor projects. It is not a substitute for BS 5534 graded roofing batten where the roof specification requires one.
Rounded-edge battens are for fencing and garden screening
For a smoother visible finish, use Rounded Edge Treated Fence & Landscaping Battens. They cover common 2x1, 3x1 and 4x1 screening sizes and are designed around slatted fencing and garden screens rather than roofing.
4x1 and 6x1 treated boards are available as timber gravel boards
Our Pressure Treated Timber Gravel Boards include common 100 × 25mm and 150 × 25mm sections used for fence bases and other suitable outdoor timber work.
For joists and structural framing, use Structural Timber
Common trade sizes such as 3x2, 4x2, 6x2 and 8x2 overlap heavily with structural timber searches. If the timber is carrying load, forming joists or being used as structural framing, start with our Structural Timber range rather than choosing general treated timber by size alone.

Browse Timber Fence Posts for treated square, gate, decorative and agricultural timber post options. For a specific gate installation, use treated gate posts; for closeboard and featheredge fencing, use treated fence rails.
