Finished deck size
The estimate uses the approximately 120mm finished board width, a 5mm board gap, 400mm joist centres and around 40 decking screws per square metre. Structural screws, supports, posts, fascia, steps and balustrade are not included.
Decking boards
The calculator compares available 2.4m, 3.6m, 4.2m and 4.8m boards and chooses a practical length around cost, joins and waste.
4x2 subframe
The timber estimate allows for joists at 400mm centres, outer frame members and rows of noggins. Larger decks are split into manageable frame sections.
Decking screws
Screws are estimated at approximately 40 per square metre, then the available 200, 500 and 1,000 packs are combined to avoid unnecessary excess.
