Post and rail fencing for fields, paddocks and boundaries

Post and rail fencing is a simple timber fencing system built from upright posts with horizontal rails fixed between or across them. This collection brings the main timber components together so you can choose the post style and rail to suit the job.

Choose the right timber posts

For a rustic agricultural finish, choose Cundy peeled round posts. For a smoother appearance, use machined round agricultural posts. Square treated posts are available where you prefer a flat fixing face or a more regular finish.

Half-round timber fence rails

Our pressure-treated half-round fence rails are nominal 4 inch × 3.66m rails made for post-and-rail fencing. Match the rail layout and post choice to the height, use and appearance required for the fence.

Setting the posts

Where the posts are being concrete-set rather than driven, 20kg Postmix provides a rapid-set option. Ground conditions, post size and fence design determine the footing required, so allow for the actual installation rather than assuming every post needs the same amount.
