A smooth, pressure-treated D-profile timber rail for finishing the tops of fences and creating decorative exterior handrails. The rounded upper face gives fencing, garden structures and handrail projects a neater finish, while the flat underside provides a straightforward fixing surface.
What is a D-rail?
A D-rail has a curved, rounded top and a flat underside. Unlike square-edged timber, it gives the exposed top of a fence or rail a shaped finish without needing to round it over yourself.
Common uses
- Fence capping: finishing the top of timber fencing, garden screening and decorative fence sections.
- Exterior handrail projects: a rounded timber top rail on suitable garden handrail or balustrade arrangements.
- Decorative post-and-rail fencing: creating a smoother-looking top rail instead of a square-edged board.

The smooth, rounded top is the visible finish, and the flat bottom makes positioning it on a suitable timber support simpler. At 2.4m long, it can be cut to fit shorter fence bays and garden projects.
Important before buying
UC3 pressure treated for above-ground outdoor use. It is not specified for direct ground contact. Treat cut ends with a suitable end-grain preservative and use exterior-suitable fixings.
