Build an EPDM roof kit from the membrane, adhesives and edge system
Start with the 1.2mm EPDM rubber roofing membrane, then add the adhesive and edge products required by the roof layout. For a straightforward timber-deck flat roof, the usual system is membrane, water-based deck adhesive, contact adhesive around upstands and perimeter details, then edge or gutter trims. Add primer and tape only where seams, repairs or detailed areas require them.
Measure the roof by width and length, not square metres alone
The membrane is supplied cut to size in 3.05m, 4.58m and 6.10m widths with selectable lengths. Measure the full roof including upstands, edges and trimming allowance, then choose a sheet size that covers the roof with as few joins as possible.
Use water-based adhesive on the main timber deck
Techno Water-Based EPDM Adhesive is for bonding the membrane to a clean, dry and absorbent timber deck such as suitable plywood or OSB. Manufacturer coverage is approximately 3–4m² per litre, so a 2.5L tub covers roughly 8–10m², 5L covers around 16–20m² and 10L around 32–40m².
Use contact adhesive for upstands, edges and vertical details
Techno EPDM Contact Adhesive bonds the membrane at upstands, parapets, edges and compatible non-absorbent or vertical surfaces. The 2.5L liquid adhesive covers roughly 7.5–8m². The 750ml spray can covers approximately 1.2–1.5m². Apply contact adhesive to both surfaces and allow it to become touch dry before mating them.
Finish the perimeter with EPDM edge and gutter trims
Use 2.5m edge trim on exposed roof edges and the 2.5m gutter trim system where the roof drains into a gutter. Match the roof layout with the appropriate internal, external and gutter corners before ordering.
EPDM tape needs compatible primer
Use Techno EPDM Primer before the pressure-sensitive tapes. 3-inch seam tape joins compatible EPDM sheets, 6-inch cover tape handles cover and repair details, and 9-inch flashing tape is for larger corners, outlets and awkward details.
EPDM roof cost depends on the complete system, not membrane price alone
The membrane area sets the starting cost, but the finished roof also depends on adhesive quantity, perimeter length, gutter edges, corners, seams and detailed areas. Price the membrane first, then add the products required by the actual roof layout rather than comparing membrane-only prices.
EPDM pond liner is a different product intent
This range is for EPDM roofing systems. Wern-Wood does not currently sell this roofing membrane as a pond-liner system.
