Post length is selected around the finished fence height and
installation method. For in-ground fitting, the calculator allows
at least 450mm below ground where a suitable stock length exists.

Available motorway rail lengths are compared against the selected
post spacing, favouring fewer pieces where the resulting waste is
reasonable.
