Structural timber for joists, carcassing and framing

This collection brings together the two main structural framing timber routes: treated structural timber for timber joists, treated carcassing, roof and floor framing, decking subframes and external timber structures, plus CLS Studwork Timber for internal partitions and stud walls.

Treated structural timber or CLS?

Choose treated structural timber where the job needs pressure-treated construction timber, timber joists or carcassing in sizes such as 4x2, 6x2, 8x2 and 9x2. Choose CLS for internal stud walls and dry internal framing where its smooth, eased profile makes it easier to handle and board over.

Timber joists and 6x2 structural timber

The treated structural range includes deeper sections commonly used for floor joists and roof joists, including 47 x 150mm, often called 6x2 timber. The correct joist size depends on the span, spacing, load and construction design, so use the section and length specified for the job.

Mixed stock and grade-specific projects

Structural timber stock can vary. If a job specifically requires a certified or documented grade, confirm the current stock and suitability before ordering rather than assuming every structural timber option carries the same certificate.
