A fire door lining is the timber frame fitted around a fire door. Firecheck linings are typically heavier than ordinary internal linings and can be machined to take the intumescent or smoke seals used around the door edge.
Our Firecheck lining has a 15 × 4mm seal groove
The Wern-Wood Redwood Fire Door Lining Set is machined with a 15 × 4mm groove along the lining for a compatible intumescent strip or smoke seal. The seal is purchased separately.
Intumescent strips expand when exposed to heat
Government fire-door guidance describes intumescent strips as seals that expand when exposed to fire, helping close the gap between the door and frame. Smoke seals perform a different job at normal temperatures by restricting smoke movement. Some products combine both functions.
The seal can be fitted in the door or the frame
Depending on the door system, the intumescent strip may be fitted into the edge of the door or into the frame. Our Firecheck lining provides the frame groove ready for that component.
Choose the lining depth from the finished wall
Our Firecheck sizes are:
- 38 × 115mm nominal → approx. 32 × 108mm finished
- 38 × 138mm nominal → approx. 32 × 132mm finished
- 38 × 150mm nominal → approx. 32 × 145mm finished
Measure the completed wall rather than choosing from the stud or block size alone.
FD30 refers to the performance of the complete door arrangement
Customers often search for an “FD30 door lining”. FD30 refers to a 30-minute fire-resistance classification used for fire-door arrangements. The door, lining or frame, seals and other components are selected together for the intended installation; the lining itself is only one part of that assembly.
