Creosote-treated round agricultural fence posts for permitted professional fencing applications during the current Great Britain transition period.
HSE renewed creosote approval in 2026, but the renewed fencing use is limited to safety-critical fencing requiring BS8417 service factor D. A 12-month grace period allows creosote-treated timber for non-renewed fencing uses to remain on the GB market until 1 April 2027.
Before ordering: check that creosote-treated timber is suitable for the project and current date. Agricultural or equestrian use alone does not automatically make a fence safety-critical.
