Performance Exterior Screws – Silver Countersunk
Corrosion-resistant exterior wood screws for general timber fixing, available from 4 × 30mm up to 6 × 150mm. The countersunk head is designed to pull flush with the timber surface, making these a good choice where you want a neat finish rather than a raised screw head.
Available in three diameters and a range of lengths, so you can choose a lighter 4mm screw for smaller timber work, a general-purpose 5mm screw, or a heavier 6mm fixing where more substantial timber sections are involved.
What is a countersunk screw?
A countersunk screw has a tapered underside to the head, allowing it to pull down flush with, or slightly below, the surface of the timber.
This is different from a pan-head screw, where the wider head remains sitting on top of the material.
Countersunk screws are particularly useful for timber work where you don't want a raised screw head catching on the finished surface.
Why choose the Performance Exterior version?
These screws have Samac's Silver Ruspert 1000-hour corrosion-resistant coating, making them intended for exterior timber applications where a standard bright indoor screw would not be appropriate.
The silver describes the coating/finish. It should not be confused with a stainless-steel screw.

For highly aggressive, coastal or other applications that specifically require stainless steel or a particular fixing specification, choose a fixing rated for that application rather than assuming a coated screw is interchangeable with stainless.
Which size do I need?
The first measurement is the screw diameter and the second is its length.
For example, 5 × 80mm means a 5mm diameter screw that is 80mm long.
4mm – lighter timber fixing
The slimmer 4mm diameter is suited to lighter timber components where a large screw isn't necessary.
4 × 30mm – Box of 200
For thinner timber, small battens and lighter fixing jobs where only a short screw is required.
4 × 40mm – Box of 200
A useful light-duty length for battens, timber components and general smaller fixing work.
4 × 50mm – Box of 200
Provides greater penetration than the shorter 4mm screws while keeping the slimmer 4mm diameter.
These 4mm screws are fully threaded.
5mm – general-purpose exterior timber screw
The 5mm diameter is the middle ground in the range and will suit many everyday timber-fixing jobs.
5 × 40mm – Box of 200
For relatively thin timber components and general shorter fixings.
5 × 50mm – Box of 200
A versatile size for general timber-to-timber work.
5 × 60mm – Box of 100
Useful where a little more penetration into the receiving timber is needed.
5 × 70mm – Box of 100
For thicker timber, battens and rails where the shorter screws don't provide enough reach.
5 × 80mm – Box of 100
A useful longer fixing for thicker timber sections and timber-to-timber work.
5 × 100mm – Box of 100
For deeper timber fixing where a 70mm or 80mm screw will not reach far enough into the receiving timber.
The 40mm, 50mm and 60mm versions are fully threaded. The longer 70mm, 80mm and 100mm screws are partially threaded.
6mm – larger, deeper timber fixing
The 6mm diameter gives you a more substantial screw for larger timber sections and jobs where a smaller 4mm or 5mm screw isn't appropriate.
6 × 100mm – Box of 100
For substantial timber-to-timber fixing where a larger diameter screw and good depth are required.
6 × 130mm – Box of 50
For deeper fixing through thicker timber sections.
6 × 150mm – Box of 50
The longest option in this range, intended for jobs where significant fixing depth is required through large timber sections.
Do not select a 130mm or 150mm screw simply because it is larger. The correct screw depends on the thickness of the material being fixed, the receiving timber and the demands of the connection.
For structural or load-critical connections, use a fixing specifically specified for that application rather than assuming the longest Performance Exterior screw is a structural fixing.
