PostSaver Sleeves for 3 inch (3x3) fence posts are designed to protect the most vulnerable part of a timber post – the ground line. These heat-shrink sleeves create a tough, waterproof barrier around the base of the post, helping prevent rot caused by moisture and fungal decay where timber enters soil or concrete.
Ground-line rot is the most common cause of fence post failure. Even pressure treated timber can deteriorate over time when constantly exposed to wet ground conditions. A PostSaver sleeve provides additional protection at this critical point, significantly extending the service life of your fence posts.

How PostSaver Works
Made from a heat-shrinkable sleeve lined with bitumen adhesive, PostSaver forms a tight seal when heated. Once applied, it bonds closely to the timber, creating a durable protective layer designed to withstand long-term ground contact.
Installation Overview
- Slide the sleeve over the base of the 3 inch post.
- Position it to cover the section that will sit below ground and slightly above ground level.
- Apply heat evenly using a gas torch until the sleeve shrinks tightly around the timber.
- Install the post as normal into soil or concrete using suitable postmix.
