Description
DuraPost Heavy Duty Commercial is the larger specialist post range for substantial acoustic, security and high-load fencing schemes. It sits above the standard Commercial profile and is intended for projects where the structural design calls for the heavier post section rather than a domestic-style fence post.
Who is it for?
This range is primarily for architects, landscape professionals, fencing contractors and project specifiers working on tall or heavily loaded boundaries. It is also used within selected Sound Shield Pro acoustic-fencing specifications.
When should Heavy Duty be chosen?
Use Heavy Duty Commercial when it is called for by the fence-system or project specification. Do not select it simply because a longer post is available: the choice between Classic, Commercial and Heavy Duty Commercial depends on height, bay centres, panel construction, wind exposure, ground/foundation design and the loads generated by the completed fence.
Compatible acoustic systems
Birkdale specifies Heavy Duty Commercial posts as an approved support option for its Sound Shield Pro 28mm tongue-and-groove acoustic system. That system combines the posts with acoustic timber boards, timber post fillets, panel bracing and capping.
What else does a complete installation need?
- the correct Heavy Duty Commercial post length
- the specified fencing or acoustic infill
- project-specific packers, seals or post fillets
- bracing and capping where required by the system
- the specified screws and connection fixings
- a foundation designed for the finished fence height, bay width and exposure
Magnelis finish
These posts are supplied in a Magnelis protective metallic finish. Where the post remains visible, the finish should be considered as part of the overall architectural specification rather than treated as a hidden support.
Specify the system, not just the post
For acoustic and tall fencing, the post is only one part of the structural assembly. Use the corresponding Birkdale technical data for the complete fence construction before finalising post centres, embedment and fixing details.
For the acoustic timber components, see the Sound Shield Pro acoustic boards.
Why choose Heavy Duty Commercial?
It is for the projects where visual restraint still matters but the loads no longer belong on a domestic-scale post. The heavier section lets an acoustic or tall boundary remain part of a coordinated DuraPost scheme rather than becoming visually industrial by default.
