Description

Type A roofing battens are a treated softwood batten commonly used in pitched roof construction and general battening work. Fixed horizontally across rafters or trusses, they provide a consistent fixing line for roof coverings such as tiles, slates, shingles, or roofing sheets.

This is a Type A batten (not a stamped graded batten). The timber is treated to improve resistance to rot, decay, and insect attack for use in exterior roof structures.

Common uses

  • Pitched roof battening
  • Fixing point for tiles, slates, and shingles
  • Support for roofing sheets
  • General external battening and site work

Why choose Type A treated battens?

  • Treated for improved durability in roof structures
  • Consistent sizing for straightforward installation
  • Suitable for a wide range of roofing and battening applications
  • Easy to cut and fix using standard woodworking tools

Handling & installation notes

  • Store flat and off the ground prior to installation
  • Use suitable fixings for roofing applications
  • Follow the roof covering manufacturer’s guidance for batten spacing and fixing

Type A treated roofing battens provide a practical, reliable option for roof battening and general external batten work where a consistent fixing framework is required.
